If you think you or your child may have ASD or ADHD (or both) please see the information below.
In England, under the NHS, you have the legal right to choose your mental healthcare provider for autism or ADHD assessments, including for children.
Adhd.co.uk is a website which gives details of the latest providers of Right to Choose for both ADHD and Autism assessments. As the name suggests, it is your right to choose a provider, so you would need to check which providers offer the assessment you seek and you can then search on their specific website to find out what paperwork you need to complete so that you can pass onto your GP in order to start the referral process.
Here’s how it works:
- Eligible Providers: You can choose from NHS providers that are registered with the NHS and provide mental health services.
- Requesting a Referral: You can ask your GP to make a referral under Right to Choose, advising which provider you would like to use. Please check the provider’s website for the documentation you will need to complete and then provide this to us. The GP may need to discuss this with you before referring.
- Provider Contact: The chosen provider will then contact you to arrange an online appointment.
- Assessment Process: The chosen provider will conduct the assessment as per their standard procedures.
You can also be referred into the local authority mental health services. Please book a telephone appointment with the GP.
